Katy

Welcome to Plumfield Dreams! I am so glad you’ve chosen to join me here, and I hope that somewhere in these pages you will find encouragement, inspiration, or good ol’ laughter.

Plumfield Dreams ~ About KatyThis is our little family. Hubby (Andy), me (Katy), Aria, and Noah. (Please ignore my hair. I’m growing it out. It’s in one of those awkward stages.)

My reason for writing this blog is two-fold:

  1. I love to learn and share. I collect information like other people collect, you know, actual collectibles. (As an aside, I don’t collect collectibles – I hate clutter.) I’m not so arrogant as to assume that anyone needs the information I’ll share here, but it will be fun and helpful to me to write it down. So that’s what I’m going to do. If a few people out there in Internetland do happen upon it and find it helpful, that is even better!
  2. I want to document the lives we lead. My hubby and I are newly on the parenting journey. We have as our goal to raise Godly, productive, others-centered children. In this space I’ll write often about our attempts at parenting our family.

My loves include: Jesus; my family; natural birth; whole foods cooking; natural lifestyle choices; music; books; Christmas; homeschooling; mommy blogs; and exploring all the little things that make us all individuals.

The name of my blog reflects some of my loves. Plumfield is a reference to the home in Little Women that Jo and Professor Bhaer turn into a refuge for children who need love and training. My dreams are not for a home, per se, but for a way of life that is Christ-centered and embodies the things Plumfield prioritized – loving, teaching, allowing children to be children, and demonstrating for those children what a solid marriage should be.

One can read “dreaming” in a negative way, as though I am wishing for something I don’t have. I don’t want for anything; the Lord has provided all my needs. And, I don’t wish to sit around thinking of what could be. I want to be busy living what is, making it into what could be. So, please don’t read my blog name as wishful, because that’s not what it’s intended to be. Instead, could you do me a favor and read it as purposeful? As in, the dream of Plumfield (the lifestyle it signifies to me) spurs me to my purpose.

I’d love to hear from you! If you have feedback for me, please drop me a line!

    • Thank you! I tend to romanticize things, so I think we’re probably on the same page there. And the noise level – oh, my word. Our home has few soft surfaces, and the sound CARRIES. The only thing that ever causes me to get completely frazzled with the kids is when everyone is using their loudest voice. I can already tell I’m going to be one of those moms who institutes a noise cap…that will work, right? (Please don’t disagree…I need to cling to my idealized vision of the future…)
